We’re super pleased to announce that iAuditor by SafetyCulture has won the Best SaaS award for the Health & Safety or Risk Management category in the 2020 SaaS Awards!
The award is given to a SaaS solution that demonstrates an innovative and intelligent approach to the multiple challenges presented in assessing and communicating risk, or asserting health and safety best practices.
2020 has already been quite a year. We secured a round of investment funding, putting us into the Australian Unicorn Club. We also won the 4th best place to work in Australia, placed as a GetApp Category Leader for Quality Management Software, and were awarded Best Quality Management Software Company by Digital.com. To top it off, we launched some new features in iAuditor for issues reporting and automated data capture with sensors.
Supporting the world through COVID-19
Overall, what we’ve been most proud of in 2020 is helping businesses around the globe build COVID-19 resilience as the pandemic disrupts the world.
From helping retail and hospitality teams organize stringent hygiene checklists, to navigating warehouse closures and reopens, to giving school’s the ability to keep their students and staff safe, we’ve focused all of our efforts on supporting people through the pandemic this year.
Safety is now a word that is top of every business owner's mind globally, and our efforts to help people through the destabilizing impact of the pandemic has been something we’re incredibly product to be part of.
More than 75,000 individuals worldwide are using SafetyCulture’s iAuditor app to complete daily COVID-19 risk assessments and inspections.
Journey to success
The journey to being the ‘Best Health and Safety product’ hasn’t been simple, linear, or easy. It’s been littered with failures, pivots, but also learned lessons and a customer centric approach towards scaling a business.
We’ve been recently valued at above USD$800M dollars, and yet we feel we’re just getting started. Our journey started by constantly asking ourselves, ‘how do we keep people safe in business, and how can we improve on what’s already there?’
We knew that business owners were already conducting risk assessments and health and safety checks, but we wanted to find a way to make it easier and faster to complete these inspections. After many iterations (and failures!), we prioritized listening to our customers, and understanding what they needed.
In 2011, we decided to build a risk assessment app, which eventually became what we know today as iAuditor. We had to make it more engaging than a paper-based checklist, or we knew it wouldn’t get traction. After feedback from customers that we needed to make our assessments more comprehensive, we started digitizing all of their must-do checklists, and built a template editor that allowed customers to build anything they wanted, from scratch. iAuditor was born.
It took off quickly, racking up over 10,000 downloads in a matter of weeks. That was when we knew what we were offering was truly helping - it was saving businesses time and money, and making their inspection process so much easier.
In 2013, we secured a round of funding, which allowed us to scale rapidly and start really implementing what a safety culture could look like - both within the business, and for our customers.
Solving problems for our customers is the core of what we do. We listen to our customer every step of the way, and that provides a platform for what we do next.
What’s next for SafetyCulture?
With iAuditor, we’ve helped more than 1 million workers across 85 countries, by offering simple and collaborative checklists that standardizes the inspection process.
Teams can spot what’s not working and assign actions, creating a shared responsibility for any at-risk tasks. iAuditor lets your team collect consistent data, standardize operations, send reports, identify failed areas and get problems resolved with this easy-to-use checklist software.
But we’re not just stopping there. We’re continuing to:

Develop collaborative features such as capturing incidents, with an easy to use chat-messenger style way of flagging incidents as they happen, complete with photos and report logs to detail evidence.
Automating data collection with sensors and wireless monitors, so teams can monitor remotely
For 2020 and beyond, our focus is to help customers build resilience towards events like COVID-19 with digital tools, standardized checklists based on government guidelines, and empowering frontline staff across the world where safety is everybody’s responsibility.
