As a manager, your business can’t afford to violate any Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements or standards. To avoid penalties or forced closures, make sure that staff members are well-equipped to limit consumption and protect customers. Train them effectively with these 10 best RSA courses online.
RSA courses are essential for building a responsible and reputable business that customers can gladly visit. They develop skilled staff members who can serve alcoholic beverages safely, contributing to a positive hospitality experience.
With this training, establishments that sell and supply alcohol can effectively meet legal and quality standards. Your staff can better protect and serve customers by understanding the effects of alcohol, recognising potential risks, and practising good service.
What is an RSA course?
An RSA course is mandatory training for delivering compliant, high-quality alcohol service in hospitality. It equips your staff members with the knowledge and skills needed to serve, sell, and supply alcoholic beverages safely in licenced establishments.
The course teaches teams essential RSA topics, including legal requirements, intoxication minimisation, standard alcohol measures, and responsible services. It enhances their ability to satisfy customers while promoting alcohol safety.
Who should take RSA training?
All states and territories require all staff members who directly sell or serve alcoholic beverages to complete RSA training. This includes bartenders, waitstaff, and servers who prepare and deliver drinks to customers.
However, it’s important to check the differences in legislation based on your business’s location. Here are some of the key variations that you should take note of:
States, territories, and localities like Queensland, Western Australia, New South Wales, and Northern Territory, also require the entire staff involved in serving, selling, and supplying alcohol. This includes the hosts, barbacks, and promotion teams.
RSA certificates under certain legislations don’t have expiration dates.
Some state and territorial laws don’t require retraining but recommend regular refreshers to maintain compliance and safety.
Places like the Northern Territory, the Australian Capital Territory, and Victoria require refresher training every three years.
Secure compliance and boost customer satisfaction with an RSA course
RSA training isn’t just a box to check off; it’s crucial for building a successful and trustworthy business. When your staff meets legal, quality, and safety standards for alcohol service, the establishment can minimise costly fines and reduce the risk of closures. More importantly, it signals to customers that they’re being cared for.
This is why an RSA course serves as an important security measure for hospitality businesses. It’s a valuable step in maintaining operations and profitability by equipping teams to deliver alcohol services that protect visitors’ health and support the organisation’s goals.
