10 OEE training courses for manufacturing productivity

Factbird covers the basics of OEE calculation and implementation. It will help your team calculate the three components of OEE, namely Availability, Performance, and Quality. It also discusses what they call the OEE waterfall charts, which show a running total to reveal how certain production losses can affect the final OEE score.

This course will take you through essential variables in the OEE waterfall chart, like OEE1, OEE2, OEE3, and the Total Capacity Utilization (TCU). It creates a modern take on OEE calculation to help organizations analyze and make improvements to their processes.

How you measure OEE can depend on the manufacturing plant’s situation. Alison’s course takes your team through the different operational situations possible and how they can affect the way your team calculates OEE.

Majority of the course is focused on calculating manufacturing losses. It includes a step-by-step guide on OEE calculation using two methods: the time unit loss model and the high-level OEE equation. This gives your team other options to calculate the metric under different circumstances.

This one-hour course can help your team understand the role of OEE in improving manufacturing workflow. With a better appreciation of OEE’s importance, they’ll be taught how to calculate its different components to get the final score. Plus, the course teaches them how to apply OEE in practice to make production levels more efficient.

Vector Solutions’ course also covers foundational knowledge on OEE and helpful guides on calculating OEE values. But on top of this, it also tackles the six big losses manufacturing teams face. These losses can help your team recognize the impact of OEE in cutting operational waste like defects, downtimes, overproduction, and more.

This OEE training course takes a step back from the usual OEE calculations and focuses on the core purpose of OEE: continuous improvement. It discusses four intermediate-level topics on lean production to help your team minimize operational waste and maximize productivity.

In this course, the American Society for Quality (ASQ) tackles the eight sources of waste, the push and pull production, and other topics to aid in operational efficiency. ASQ requires prior knowledge of the basics of lean production to make sure your team fully grasps the course content.

Another aspect of improving OEE is equipment maintenance, and this industrial preventative maintenance course gives your team an in-depth training on it. With 17 hours of preventative maintenance lessons, your team can learn about machine oil analysis, thermography, vibration analysis, and ultrasonics.

If you’re looking for a more basic course on equipment maintenance, ClickSafety offers a quick manufacturing training to show your team how to diagnose equipment issues. This includes communicating the issue to upper management, especially if they’re not authorized to fix the equipment themselves.

The course is a good introductory program if you’re looking to get your team familiarized with equipment maintenance first. It can also help establish some key concepts before they take on more advanced and technical courses.

In the manufacturing industry, where different types of products are created, changeover time is an essential factor that can affect your team’s productivity. Gemba Academy offers almost two hours of training on the Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) technique to help reduce changeover time and avoid downtimes in production.

The course also comes with a case study of Ram Technologies to show your team how SMED has helped companies in the real world improve their manufacturing processes. It compares their productivity levels before and after applying the SMED technique, painting a bigger picture of the overall influence of lean production on manufacturing.

Welding is a common manufacturing skill that most teams need to learn when they work in the industry. In this course, Mitti (by SafetyCulture) covers the pros and cons of different welding techniques to help your team determine which method works best for the job. It also tackles proper usage to avoid accidents and equipment failure.

Knowing what welding technique will create the most outputs in the least time possible can improve OEE. On top of this, preventing equipment failure by following routine procedures helps maintain machinery and avoid downtime.

With Mitti (by SafetyCulture)’s Practical Assessments, you can conduct in-person exercises of welding techniques to test your team’s knowledge. This can be tracked alongside their performance in the course to better gauge who will need more training to improve OEE.
