We’ve assembled a list of basic rigging training courses designed for riggers, shipyard workers, construction workers, or anyone who works with or around rigging equipment. These courses will help your workers understand rigging principles and develop the knowledge and skills needed to safely secure loads with slings, chain hoists, and other rigging tools.
Riggers are responsible for using complex rigging equipment like heavy ropes, chains, straps, cables, and pulley systems to ensure that heavy loads are secured during crane transportation. To handle both the equipment and the load safely, they need to be knowledgeable about load stability, limits, and overall balance.
Without comprehensive training, riggers won't be able to secure loads effectively and a simple heavy lifting job could turn into a disaster.
What is basic rigging training?
Basic rigging training courses equips riggers, construction workers or shipyard workers with the fundamental skills needed for safe lifting and moving of heavy loads, usually with the use of ropes, chains, or slings. With training, your workers become better equipped to measure and safely transport loads and operate equipment.
What are the four basic rules of rigging?
Here are the key principles that you should keep in check to safeguard your teams and
Skilled employees: Make sure that all team members involved in rigging operations are qualified through training and certification.
Rigorous inspection: Always conduct thorough safety checks of rigging equipment. Watch out for potential wear, damage or defects in the gear and conduct regular maintenance.
Balance and stability: Use the right rigging techniques to prevent loads from tipping, sliding, or shifting.
Clear safety communication: Establish clear and effective communication protocols among teams involved in the rigging process.
Safeguard your lifting operations with proper rigging training
Safety and precision are non-negotiable when it comes to rigging operations. Employ the four basic rules of rigging in your team's everyday tasks and incorporate it into basic rigging training. Avoid workplace accidents, equipment damage, and compliance issues by prioritizing equipment inspection and efficient training.
