Is ongoing training or professional development required for security guards?
Security guards are often required to receive continuous learning, annual renewal training, and refresher courses. However, the extent depends on their role, their responsibilities, and the location of their assignment.
Varying laws, regulations, licensing levels, and use of weapons commonly determine these differences in retraining and ongoing learning requirements. Additionally, these factors would also influence the number of course hours that a staff member must complete.
Because of this, it’s best to check your local legislation and find the exact training requirements that your organization’s security must comply with.
